Creating Metacognitive Scholars Through Engaged and Contextualized Learning

Three instructors, from Developmental Ed, Early Childhood Education and Educational Technology, collaborate to create and teach a college-credit course that accommodates a variety of students including developmental, academic probation and aspiring educators. Lessons learned will be shared on what has worked (and what hasn't!) in both face-to-face and online sections.


o Share student engagement strategies with colleagues. o An opportunity to reflect on and discuss effective teaching techniques. o Provide experiential learning activity as a demonstration of engaged learning.

Full Description: 

We will use a powerpoint presentation as the basis of our presentation and discussion with session attendees. Some specific topics that will be shared include Team Based Learning, the Flipped Classroom, a Project Approach, and Synchronous Communication in online courses. A hands-on learning activity will be used to engage session participants.
