Early College High Schools (ECHS) are innovative high schools that allow students least likely to attend college an opportunity to earn a high school diploma and 60 college credit hours.
The North Texas Community College Consortium in partnership with Tarrant County College and Educational Service Centers Region 10 and Region 11 is facilitating the work of the North Texas Early College High School Consortium to address the needs of the Secondary Education and Higher Education institutions providing Early College High School opportunities in the region.
The Consortium offers three annual events, in Fall, Spring and Summer, to discuss best practices, current trends, legislative initiatives and requirements, and other issues. These meetings are valuable for anyone who is involved in Early College High School at any level, or considering beginning an Early College High School program.
This meeting will be focused on what data and our experiences show about how to support ECHS students through successful high school graduation, college transition, and completion of associate’s and bachelor’s degrees. We will be spending time at this meeting developing an action plan based on this information for the North Texas Early College High School Consortium to implement during the 2016-2017 year.
